We design homes that weather the test of time,

so that we may live well within them for many generations.

Why Fourth Dimension Architecture?

Fourth Dimension Architecture Logo Icon.png

When we renovate a house,

we have a chance to

flip the hourglass

and start again fresh

by extending its lifespan.

Liz earned her Bachelors of Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2012 and has been working in the field of architecture ever since.

In her first 10 years, she apprenticed with 9 architects and participated in 277 residential architecture projects, including her own independent projects.

She earned her license to practice architecture in 2020, just as the world shut down in a global pandemic and everyone retreated to their homes.

This time inside strengthened her resolve to design houses that are more than just 2x6's covered with drywall; to become homes, our houses need to provide more than shelter from the elements.

A home is a sense of safety, a place of belonging,

a space to gather with those who mean the most to us,

and a healthy environment to grow in and become our best selves.

You may encounter Liz in the wild snowboarding in the Catskills, walking her Siberian Husky or writing poetry about the meaning of home.

Rebecca Cato, Intern

Rebecca earned a BA in Writing from the University of Central Arkansas in 2010, completing her minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies with a thesis exploring the intersection of natural building techniques and community development. This work stemmed from experiential learning during a semester abroad at the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland and a natural building apprenticeship at The Farm in Summertown, TN.

After a varied career working in nonprofits and higher education, Rebecca is returning to a childhood love of space planning and design (and a more recent obsession with building science) through her internship with Fourth Dimension Architecture.

Rebecca is based in Central New York, where she’s either in the pottery studio or making plans for the cozy cabin she and her partner will build.
